Humber Summit is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Canada located in the North York district of the city, bordered by Steeles Avenue to the north, Highway 400 to the east, Finch Avenue to the south, and Humber River to the west. Originally a pioneer community in the 1840s, it transformed into a resort area named Riverbend Park as the city expanded. It has been a famous location to build vacation homes and cottages. In 1953, it became part of Metropolitan Toronto. Hurricane Hazel in 1954 caused the loss of cottages along the Humber River. In 1998, the neighbourhood joined the new City of Toronto. Today, Humber Summit is a middle-class community with a strong Italian presence, welcoming new East Indian and Asian families. The homes, mainly semi-detached backsplits with built-in garages, showcase suburban post-World War II 1960s architecture, featuring charming front porches and decorative archways. The area is filled with parks, recreational centres and eateries.
