Uptown Neighbourhoods Overview

Market gardens and fruit farms once dominated the Uptown neighbourhood of Burlington. To develop a secondary urban hub to complement Downtown Burlington, the City of Burlington named this district Uptown Burlington in 1994. Agricultural landscapes were supplanted by residences, parks, schools, shopping malls, and office buildings to create the neighbourhood. The Uptown neighbourhood is new, lively, and hospitable to families of all generations. The housing inventory represents diversity with a combination of townhouses, semi-detached and detached houses, and condominium complexes. The CN Rail corridor and business district determine the neighbourhood's western border. Appleby Line, the primary north-south route in Uptown, is a densely populated roadway flanked by numerous shopping centres and a few condominium apartment buildings. In contrast, Bronte Creek Provincial Park is a barrier at this neighbourhood's eastern border along Burloak Drive. This neighbourhood attracts families since it has a variety of affordable housing possibilities, educational institutions, retail establishments, and leisure activities. Additionally, commuters have easy access to the Ontario 403 Expressway, which is close to downtown Burlington and is well-served by public transportation.
