On April 28, 2022, the Regional Council approved the updated Region of RPOP (Peel Official Plan). On November 4, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing made a statement to accept the new RPOP with 44 changes. About Development Services

Our obligations consist of:

  • Supplying regional guidance and remarks regarding development applications made in accordance with the Planning Act.
  • Putting into practice the Regional Official Plan will preserve regional interests as well as provincial planning requirements.
  • Reviewing related engineering submissions and approving water and wastewater connections to regional services.
  • Examining the storm water management for construction projects near regional routes.

Development also does:

  • Adopt regional and provincial policies that control land use and govern growth in Peel.
  • Work with the Town of Caledon, the City of Brampton, and the City of Mississauga, as well as individual landowners and the development sector.
  • Develop regional positions on all development and redevelopment plans in the cities of Caledon, Mississauga, and Brampton.
  • Examine upgrades to the sanitary sewage and water systems.
  • Reply to requests for non-portable groundwater.
  • Respond to requests for connections to Peel's water and wastewater systems, stormwater collection systems, and road extensions to accommodate additional development.
  • Evaluate environmental assessments and offer comments.
  • When naming new streets, collaborate with the Street Names Committee.

Development Services Fees and Rates

A bylaw amending the "Fees By-law," by-law 43-2002, as amended below. Whereas the Regional Municipality of Peel's ("Regional Corporation") Council adopted By-law 43-2002, also known as the "Fees By-law," on July 11, 2002, to levy fees and charges for services or activities provided by the Regional Municipality of Peel or for the use of its property; And therefore, on December 2, 2021, the council of the regional corporation passed By-law 65-2021 amending By-law 43-2002 and transferring the water rates and charges, waste management system rates and charges, sewer surcharge rate, sewer waste disposal charge, and waste rates and fees into By-law 43-2002; And so, by resolution adopted on January 19, 2023, the council of the regional corporation authorized the enactment of this by-law to further amend by-law 43-2002; Therefore, the regional corporation's council adopts the following:

  • The schedule A and schedule B attached herein shall supersede the schedule A and schedule B attached to By-law 43-2002, as modified.
  • The fees and charges listed in Schedule A and Schedule B to By-law 43-2002, as amended, that were in force on the day any such fees and charges were payable, shall continue to apply to fees that became due before the date this by-law takes effect, despite the revisions to By-law 43-2002 herein.
  • The day this bylaw is passed is the day it becomes operative.

The revised fees for planning applications will start in 2023.

  • When a single application is submitted, all fee adjustments indicated are applicable.
  • Any payments made to the Region of Peel must be made via wire transfer or electronic funds transfer (EFT).

Fee changes take effect on February 2, 2023. 2.5% of the increment went into effect for the existing fees on February 2, 2023.
