Dymon Storage is based in Ottawa and has 8 locations for its business at present. The company will be expanding into the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and will be setting up 3 more locations by the end of 2018 with another 6 forecasted for next year. This, according to experts, will give a major boost to the GTA real estate market. Many of these properties will encompass more than a regular storage facility or mixed-use developments. The company will be looking at facilities situated at nodes where there is higher traffic and big-box retail outlets. This new extension for business and homes in GTA will definitely boost real estate in surrounding areas of the main location near Dufferin Street and also on the Wilson Avenue north of the Highway 401 at Toronto.
The 600, 000 sq. ft. structure will have retail provisions for the ground floor in addition to second floor offices and condominium suites for the floors between 3-9 in addition to central storage zones. Construction should start soon and will take 2 years to be completed once the City of Toronto issues its approval. The biggest storage facility across the globe will be set up in the manufacturing plant for Carlton Cards at 1460 The Queensway, Toronto. There will be around 500, 000 sq. ft. once it opens later in 2018 opposite an IKEA store.
Another location spanning 160, 000 sq. ft. will have third-party retail facilities on the ground floor and will be set up at Airport Road and Highway 7 in Brampton. Dymon has also purchased the ex-Target zone at Five Points Mall, Oshawa. A storage center will come up here along with third-party retail facilities. It is also planning for a facility at Burlington’s Guelph Line and another site has been bought in Oakville at 845 Burloak Dr. Other sites are being evaluated throughout the GTA, Hamilton and Burlington according to reports.
Dymon storage facilities come with climate and humidity control in tandem with greater security. They can be accessed 24-7 and the new retail idea will have 1, 500 home décor products applicable for storage and there could also be wine storage at some locations along with premium lounges and office rentals. Dymon is focusing more on the GTA where people generally live in apartments and condominiums. Several big ticket residential projects have also been coming up in Toronto and other parts of the GTA. These include the likes of 88 East Condos, The Wyatt and Panda Condos.
